Dear Mark,
I wanted you to know how much I have enjoyed your books and tv show through the years. I decided to try to go where you go and with the guides on your show when I saw an episode that really appealed to me. Thanks to your show, Andy thompson guided me to trophy bonefish on two occasions, 11 and 12.4 pounds. Last August, Charlie Stuve helped me catch a 44 inch snook that was in the 35 pound range-massive, among other nice ones. Both of these guides are excellent and I not only consider them great fisherman, but very friendly and helpful. I am planning to fish tarpon with Jack Callion next june and I will be within two days of the full moon. Do you think I can expect a good bite considering this moon phase at the bridges? I know fishing can be affected by many variables but what does the moon typically do to those fish? Thanks again and thanks for making fishing fun and making fishing dreams come true. |

Dear Steve:
I tend to use the same guides over and over again because, in my judgement, they rank among the best. Andy Thompson is one of the top flats guides with whom I have ever fished. Charlie Stuve grew up on a boat. His father is a world class captain and so is Charlie. Jack Callion is as good as they come. By the way, I e-mailed him and asked him about two days before the full moon in June. He responded that it was an excellent choice of dates.
Thanks for your kind words. If you haven't read my latest book, Mark Sosin, A Sportsman's Memoir, I think you would enjoy it. The book contains 350 short anecdotes about various events and observations in my career.

Dear Steve,
Just another "fan" of Mark and Jack Callion. I fish Tarpon every spring with Jack Callion and have never been disappointed. He and his son "John" are first class and will give you a real boat handling experience under those bridges. Have a Ball!
